Progress Report On The 10-Year Framework Of Programmes On Sustainable Consumption And Production Patterns: Note By The Secretary-General

In its resolution 66/288, the General Assembly endorsed the outcome document of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, entitled “The future we want”, in which the Conference adopted the 10-year framework of programmes on sustainable consumption and production patterns, reaffirming that shifting towards sustainable consumption and production patterns is one of the overarching objectives of, and essential requirements for, sustainable development. In its resolution 66/288, the General Assembly endorsed the outcome document of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, entitled “The future we want”, in which the Conference adopted the 10-year framework of programmes on sustainable consumption and production patterns, reaffirming that shifting towards sustainable consumption and production patterns is one of the overarching objectives of, and essential requirements for,sustainable development. Its objective is to generate a collective impact through multi-stakeholder programmes and partnerships, support the development and scaling up of successful sustainable consumption and production policies and initiatives at all levels, foster knowledge and the sharing of experience, and facilitate access to technical and financial resources for developing countries forthe shift to sustainable consumption and production patterns. Ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns is one of 17 sustainable development goals proposed in the report of the Open Working Group of the General Assembly on Sustainable Development Goals (goal 12) in July 2014 (A/68/970).
