An accidental fire broke out in Aurahi Village Development Committee (VDC) of Siraha district around 1400 hrs on 15 May 2012. According to the DDRC Siraha, total 2063 people from 347 families are affected due to the incident. Total seven people with disability are identified in the affected community. District Disaster Relief Committee (DDRC) decided to provide NRs. 6,000 (NRs 1,000 from District Development Committee and NRs. 5,000 from the local relief fund) to each of the affected families. On 16 May, the Prime Minister visited the affected area and announced to provide NRs. 25,000 to each affected family and requested all humanitarian organizations and individuals to support the affected families. In the mean time, Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) called a meeting yesterday, 17 May 2012 among the humanitarian partners to discuss on the DDRC’s decisions. Based on the request from the DDRC, UNICEF, Save the Children and NRCS committed to provide their support to the affected people.
