Highlights:
1. Banke is one of the districts where the Muslims community has a high population in Nepal. In UNDAF, Muslims minorities are identified as one of the vulnerable groups. A roundtable with the Muslims community in Nepalgunj was organized on 5 August 2013 with an objective to discuss on the issues and challenges faced by the Muslims community and particularly the Muslim girls in Banke district.
2. Twenty-seven participants including religious leaders, NGO representatives, teachers, civil Society members, National Muslim Commission member participated in the roundtable,
among them, six were women.
3. Two resource persons, namely, Mohammadi Siddiqui, former Constitution Assembly member and Mustak Ali Rai from a local NGO presented paper. The roundtable raised different issues of Muslim community and participants requested to hold similar sharing session with the Muslim communities.
