The name "United Nations" was primarily coined by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt when 26 nations fabricated an organization which pledges their government to continue fighting together against Axis power. In 1945 a meeting was held in San Francisco where delegates from 50 nations signed the “Charter of the United Nations”. The united nation came to an existence on 24 October 1945 and since on 24th October of every year UN day is celebrated around the world. At present 192 nations share membership in the organization. The primary aim of the United Nations was to preserve peace and promote international cooperation to avoid world wars.
