Highlights:
1. The Documentation and Information Centre in the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu was
set up with the establishment of the UNESCO in 1998. It is located within the office
premises at Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, Nepal (map in Annex).
2. The Centre provides information and documentation support to UNESCO’s stakeholders in Nepal, the general public and UNESCO staff to respond to information needs in the fields of UNESCO’s competencies viz. education, culture,and natural, social and human sciences as well as communication and information.
3. In addition it disseminates information on UNESCO’s activities. It also co-operates with resource centers/libraries in Nepal by providing them with UNESCO publications.
4. The main purpose of the present Rules and Regulations is to safeguard the common interest of users and enable the Centre to carry out its functions.
