The Local Governance and Community Development Programme (LGCDP) is a national programme managed and implemented by the Ministry of Local Development (MoLD) and is aimed at improving the system of local governance and community development. The MoLD, Government of Nepal (GoN), and six UN agencies, namely UNCDP, UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA, UNV AND UN Women eastablished a joint Programme (JP) to support Local governance and community-led development in Nepal. The Joint Programme contributes towards poverty reduction through improved and more inclusive local governance and service delivery in Nepal. The Participating UN organizations have designed the joint programme on the basis of their past experience gained through their projects in different areas in particular decebtralization, local givernance and community-led development.
