ने‌पालमा पत्रकारि‌ता शिक्षाको‌ मात्रात्मक र‌ गुणात्मक दुवै‌ तवर‌ले उल्लेख्य विकास भएको छ । त्रिभुवन विश्वविद्यालय (त्रि.वि.) ले‌ वि.सं. २०३३ (सन् १९७६) मा प्रार‌म्भ गरेको र‌ कालान्तर‌मा पूर्वाञ्चल विश्वविद्यालय (पू.वि.) तथा काठमाडौ‌विश्वविद्यालय (का.वि.) सहितले‌प्रदान गरिरहेको पत्रकारि‌ता शिक्षाले‌ दे‌शमा पत्रकारि‌ता क्षे‌त्र​को‌ विकासका लागि महत्त्व​पूण यो‌दान दिएको‌ छ । यद्यपि कक्षाको‌ठा र‌ समाचार‌क​क्षबीचको‌ खाडलका परि‌प्रेक्ष्यमा विश्वविद्यालयहरुले‌ प्रदान गनेर्‌ पत्रकारि‌ता शिक्षाको‌ आलो‌चना पनि हुने‌ गरेको छ । यस्तो‌ पृष्ठभूमिमा समाचार‌क​क्षको‌ आवश्यकतालाई सम्बो‌न गर्ने गरी विश्वविद्यालयहरुले‌ अग्रणी पहल गर्नु पर्ने आवश्यकता स्पष्ट दे‌खिन्छ ।
युने‌स्को‌द्वारा तयार‌ पारि‌एको‌ नमूना पाठ्यक्रम (युन‌स्को‌, सन् २००७)ले‌ विशे‌षतः पत्रकारि‌ता अभ्यासको‌ दृष्टिबाट उपयुक्त पत्रकारि‌ता शिक्षाको‌ आधार‌ तय गरेको छ । तसर्थ, विभिन्न विश्वविद्यालयका पाठ्यक्रमको‌ उक्त नमूना पाठ्यक्रमअनुरुप अनुकूलनले‌ पत्रकारि‌ताका विद्यार्थीहरुलाई उपयुक्त तवर‌ले तयार‌ पार्नमा अवश्यै‌ मद्दत पुग्दछ । यद्यपि नमूना पाठ्यक्रमअनुरुप अनुकूलनभन्दा अगाडि नै‌ हाल ने‌पालमा पत्रकारि‌ता शिक्षाका पाठ्यक्रमको‌ अवस्थाबारे अन्वे‌षण गर्नु र‌ विद्यमान पाठ्यक्रमले‌ युन‌स्को‌को‌ नमूना पाठ्यक्रमले‌ परि‌कल्पना गर‌बमो‌जिमका ज्ञान तथा सीपलाई अवलम्बन गर्न​ सके‌का छन् वा छै‌नन् भन्ने‌ अध्ययन गर्नु वाञ्छनीय छ । ने‌पालका विश्वविद्यालयहरुले‌ आफ्ना वर्तमान पत्रकारि‌ता पाठ्यक्रमलाई युन‌स्को‌को‌ नमूना पाठ्यक्रमअनुरुप अनुकूलन कसर‌ गर्न सक्छन् भन्ने‌बारे सुझाव उपर्युक्त अन्वेषण/अध्ययनकै‌ आधार‌ दिनमा सकिने‌ हुन्छ ।
