Competing interests on land, land-use, land tenure and shelter are some of the root causes of conflict in the country. The Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA), Interim Constitution of Nepal and repeated commitments of political players amply justify the need to address to land issues to attain sustainable peace and prosperity. In this backdrop, in March 2013 UN-Habitat together with IOM and UNDP initiated the UNPFN funded Catalytic Support on Land Issues project in partnership with Government of Nepal (GoN). As part of the project, UN-Habitat will concentrate on Participatory Land Use planning in the three target districts.
The overall objective of the project is to develop and testing land use planning and implementation guidelines for replicating sustainable land use planning in Nepal.
