The STEPS survey of chronic disease risk factors in Ilam, Tanahu and Lalitpur districts of Nepal was carried out from August to December 2005. Nepal carried out Step 1, Step 2. Socio demographic and behavioural information was collected in Step 1. Physical measurements such as height, weight and blood pressure were collected in Step 2.
The STEPS survey (NCD Risk Factors Survey) in Nepal at sub national levels was a population-based survey of adults aged 15-64. The fact sheet has included only aged 25-64. A multi-stage cluster sample design was used to produce representative data for that age range in the above mentioned districts of Nepal. A total of 7792 adults participated in the STEPS survey. The overall response rate was 92%. A repeat survey is planned for 2008/9 if funds permit.
