ILO Technical Cooperation : Child Labour - Towards Achieving the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour as Priority (ACHIEVE) – Nepal (Phases I-II)(June 2014)

The project undertook a number of actions towards policy and legal reform including capacity building of the Child Labour Elimination and International Labour Relation Section (CLERS) of the Ministry of labour and Employment (MoLE), labour offices at the districts and social partners on child labour elimination efforts in its total project span.The Child Labour Policy has been drafted. The Hazardous Child Labour List has been drafted. Legislative Amendments and Recommendations have been drafted. The Child Labour Coordination Forum initiated by the project received recognition by the CLERS of the MoLE and the relevant stakeholders as a significant forum for bringing together the national players on child labour elimination for collective actions.The Capacity Development Training Manual has been prepared. Trainings have been conducted for the MoLE’s field officials, factories inspectors and the relevant government and non-government officials in five different districts. A three-day training on “Proposal Writing and Result-Based Management” was organised.The Project conducted a two-and-a-half day Consultation Workshop on “Legal Reform”. “Possible Strategies for Good Practices Document” has been produced. The MoLE was able to generate a separate Government fund to carry out the advocacy and awareness activities as inscribed in the National Master Plan.
