The monsoon began on 20 July with few incidents of landslides and flooding in some parts of the country From 27 July, incessant rains in Nepal caused a mid -scale disaster in Terai (lowlands) and hill areas of the country As of 29 July, Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS)reported 54 people dead, 9 missing, 44 injured, and 213,127 people (37,270 families) affected The Minist ry of Home Affairs has reported a total of 72 people dead(as at 30 July 4 ,133 houses have been completely destroyed and 1, 100 have been partially damaged (NRCS, 29 July )Transport and communication is disrupted in all the 26 affected districts.
