Occupational Safety and Health Development in Nepal (SHIELD)

The project aims to initiate a comprehensive plan for promoting occupational safety and health services and reforming labour inspection system in Nepal in line with the International Labour Standards the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Conventions C155 and C187, and the Labour Inspection Convention C81. The specific objectives are:
1. Strengthen the capacities of the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Occupational Safety and Health and modernize labour inspection system in line with the International Labour Standards.
2. Engage the social partners in a better position to promote compliance with the labour legislations.
The project will contribute to the socio-economic development of Nepal by enhancing the application of the International Labour Standards and modernizing occupational safety and health services.
