Much of the material in this final report has already been presented in my three earlier reports to Unesco all of which ( but particularly the first) should be read in conjuction with this. The reports of my unesco colleagues, T.A. Richardson and A. Zehnder give further information about the unesco/unicef project on general education and teacher training in Nepal. Particularly relevant are Zehnder , dealing with College of Education- its history, organization, operation and efficiency. Richardson gives a detailed account of planning for educational development in Nepal and of the background to the Project.
I make no apologies for repeating what I have said and written before : indeed, further emphasis is urgently necessary if the teaching of English in Nepal is to be made more effective. Some progress has been made, but there is a great deal left to achieve.
