The Nepal Earthquake Assessment Unit is a unique partnership between OCHA, the Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO), the Assessment Capacities Project (ACAPS), and MapAction. The Unit’s objective is to promote a shared situational awareness of key humanitarian priorities among strategic and operational stakeholders to inform their respective strategies, programme design, and advocacy efforts. The unit, which is jointly hosted by the RCO and OCHA and funded by DFID, is staffed by national and OCHA personnel, and MapAction and ACAPS deployees. The unit works to improve information sharing, harmonise data collection activities, strengthen the quality of both data collected and analysis of humanitarian needs available to humanitarian responders.
