1.Prime Minister Bhattarai's four-day visit to India marked an official turning point in relations between Nepal's Maoist party and the Government of India.
2. During October, there were very few reported incidendts affecting the operational space of Nepal‟s development and humanitarian partners.
3. During October, a total of only 10 IED incidents were reported across nine districts in the country , including one explosion that injured a child when an abandon IED exploded in Baluwatar VDC, Dailekh District.
4. Identity-based groups have remained largely quiet and inactive since carrying out major disruptive activities surrounding the lead-up to the extension of the constitution drafting process in May 2011.
5. After a popular fast-until-death protest against corruption during September in Banauli-Danauli VDC (Mahottari District), local people, youths, local leaders of political parties and a CA member protested over the course of October against alleged corruption in local bodies in the Central Tarai.
6. District officials in the Eastern Region are reporting increasing difficulty in dealing with the „all party‟ mechanisms formed for the functioning of DDCs, VDCs, municipalities and LPCs in lieu of locally elected officials.
7. The first and second phases of response, which constituted the immediate rescue and relief assistance the(cash support) to the survivors of September 18 earthquake, are over according to the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA).
8. A regional education cluster coordination meeting was held for two days on 14-15 October in Eastern Region for supporting Temporary Learning Centres (TLCs) in affected areas.
9. Following the earthquake on 18 September, the Protection Cluster including Child Protection sub cluster partners continued to support activities targeting affected communities in the Eastern region of Nepal.
10. UNICEF organized one national and two regional level trainings on Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE) for Government nutrition workers and national and regional partners.
11. UNFCO Biratnagar participated in different regional and district level coordination meetings following the earthquake and has been on stand by should there be a need. Similarly, the OCHA Humanitarian Support Unit in Kathmandu has supported the clusters and the early recovery network by channeling information received from MoHA.
