Safe demolition and debris management activities are scaling up in Sindhupalchok and Gorkha districts focusing on government buildings and houses in rural areas. Limited activities are also implemented in Kathmandu and Lalitpur. The activities are supported by Cash for Work as a mean of immediate livelihood support. Key messages on how to safely demolish buildings and manage debris are widely distributed and recent guidelines have been passed by the government. Critical gaps are private buildings in urban settings, school and health posts and solutions are currently being identified. Better linkages between debris and shelter initiatives are being strengthened through improved cluster coordination. Off-farm livelihood recovery activities including rehabilitation of community assets have started in 8 districts mainly through distribution of goods, emergency employment and cash grants. The condition of roads is a major concern as the monsoon season is approaching. Some initiatives have started in clearing roads and trails for improved access for people to markets and basic services. Due to lack of funding many critical activities are still in a planning stage. Little progress has been recorded in the third priority area - support to restoration of local services.
