In 2012, the High Commissioner’s Special Project on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Nepal offered a unique opportunity to more comprehensively address the issue of SGBV in the refugee camps. The interventions under the Project made use of innovative approaches and were conceived on the basis of
lessons learned over the course of the last 20 years, as well as on focus group discussions with the refugee community, and by drawing upon recommendations from external partners, such as the Women’s Refugee Commission and Handicap International.
