As one of the 20 most disaster-prone countries in the world, Nepal is considered a global natural hazard “hot- spot” due to its susceptibility to a wide range of risks from natural hazards. Once immediate relief has been provided, Early Recovery (ER) action helps people rebuild their lives and livelihoods. To better prepare for Early Recovery
in Nepal, the UNDP Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Programme plays a lead role in establishing systems and enhancing capacities within the UN, development agencies, and the
Government of Nepal. UNDP combines overarching programmatic goals of developing a National Framework for Early Recovery and a Kathmandu Valley Early Recovery Plan with ongoing ER activities within District and Village Development Committees (DDCs and VDCs).
