Imja Lake, located in Solukhumbu district, is among six glacial lakes at most immediate
risk of bursting. The potential GLOF risks threaten the livelihoods of downstream
communities in the Sagarmatha National Park and its Buffer Zone. Nepal has seen a recent trend of high intensity and erratic rainfalls. Community interactions and consultations undertaken in the Tarai and Churia districts have confirmed the hardships faced by different groups, particularly women and children, during floods.
