कानून, न्याय, संविधानसभा तथा संसदीय मामिला मन्त्रालय कानूनी राजको अवधारणा अनुरुप नेपाल कानूनको तर्जुमा, मौजुदा कानून हरुमा समसामयिक संशोधन लगायत न्याय प्रशासनसँग सम्बन्धित कार्यहरु गर्नका लागि नेपाल सरकारको केन्द्रीय निकायको रुपमा रहेकोछ ।यस मन्त्रालयको स्थापना पूर्व कानूनको तर्जुमा तथा सन्धि सम्झौताको क्षेत्रमा काम गर्ने सरकारी संस्थागत संयन्त्र थिएन सम्वत् २००७ साल अघिसम्म ऐन बनाउन परेमा अदालतमा धेरै वर्ष काम गरी अनुभव प्राप्त धर्मशास्त्र तथा नीति शास्त्रका विद्वानहरु, धर्माधिकार, साहु महाजन, सन्त महन्त, जिमिदार, थरी मुखिया तथा सामाजिक क्षेत्रका नाम कमाएका व्यक्तिहरुबाट ठीक छ भनेपछि मात्र लालमोहर वा खड्ग निशाना लगाई ऐन बनाई जारी गरिन्थ्यो । २००७ साल पछि केही अवधिको लागि समाजमा नाम कमाएका व्यक्तिबाट कानून बनाउनुको सट्टा अरु विद्वानहरुबाट कानूनको मसौदा गराई मन्त्रिमण्डलको सल्लाह लिई राजाबाट लालमोहरद्वारा ऐन जारी गर्ने व्यवस्था प्रचलनमा ल्याइएको थियो २००७ साल देखि २०१२ सालसम्म कानून तर्जुमा गर्ने कार्य कानून विभागले गर्यो ।२०१३ सालमा कानून विभागको नाम “कानून मन्त्रालय” राखियो ।२०१५सालमा तत्कालिन नेपाल सरकारको कार्यविभाजन नियमावलीले कानून मन्त्रालयकोनाम “कानून तथा संसदीय प्रवन्ध मन्त्रालय” राखी ऐन, नियम, आदेशहरुको तर्जुमा र जाँच गर्ने, अरु मन्त्रालयमा नपरेको विषयमा कानून बनाउने, पटृ, कबुलियत सम्झौता समेतका सरकारी लिखतहरुको मसौदाको तर्जुमा गर्ने कार्यभार सुम्पियो ।
