On behalf of the Humanitarian Country Team in Nepal I would like to extend our deepest
condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in yesterday’s helicopter crash in Sindhupalchowk district. The helicopter chartered by Médicins Sans Frontières was delivering humanitarian aid when it went down. It is a significant loss to relief efforts accessing the more remote areas at such a critical time prior to the monsoon rains. Yesterday’s tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the many Nepali women and men and international humanitarian actors who are selfless in their daily efforts to deliver much needed aid to communities. Humanitarian assistance is still rquired in the more hard-to-reach areas affected by the two earthquakes that struck Nepal in April and May this year.
