Cabinet has given authority to fast track the purchase of emergency medicine, now the process will be quicker. Ministry will take charge of the local transportation, custom clearance etc of the medical supplies and equipment that arrive at TIA. Partners are requested to provide the details to HEOC. MoHP has been disseminating post- earthquake outbreak awareness message in all affected districts. Health Cluster Contingency Plan has been updated as a guide to prioritize the cluster response. FMT Mechanism has been strengthened. Health desks have been established in 13 camps in Kathmandu valley. 11 districts out of 35 have the critical health response needs. Medical teams are in all the critical districts –initially deployed from zone and the region and now backed up by the foreign medical teams. Assessment teams led by the senior officials/MoHP matched with WHO Surveillance Medical Officer (SMOs) have been assessing the situation and preliminary information is available: about 90% of the health facilities outside district headquarters are nonfunctional. More comprehensive information is expected by coming Friday.
