Displacement sites with significant numbers are concentrated in urban areas, with predominantly dispersed displacement in rural areas. Some sites are already experiencing segregation of persons based on caste. The Cluster still does not have a sufficient view of the districts outside Kathmandu Valley. Moving beyond the valley is top priority, to improve understanding of displacement sites across the affected area, and assess how the CCCM Cluster can contribute in a context of dispersed displacement, deployment of technical coordinators taking place tomorrow (see below) IOM’s Displacement Monitoring Matrix is scaling up with good coverage of the Valley districts, and teams mobilising to conduct site assessments in Gorka and Singapulchok tomorrow. The upcoming monsoon season and winter conditions beyond need to be taken into consideration now.
