A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on 25 April at 11:56 local time causing large scale damage. The epicenter is located 81 km northwest of the Nepali capital Kathmandu at a depth of 15km. Hundreds of aftershocks reported including a 6.7 magnitude earthquake. The Government of Nepal requested international humanitarian assistance on 26 April.
