Latest reports indicate that over 3 200 people have been killed and more than 7600 have been injured following the earthquake of 25 April 2015. The MOHP’s current projections are 5 000 deaths and 50 000 injured. Almost half of the country’s districts (35 out of 75) have been affected. The worst-hit districts are Bhaktpur, Dhading, Dolkha, Gorkha, Kathmandu, Kavre, Lalitpur, Nuwakot, Ramechhap, Rasuwa and Sindupalchowk The Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) is coordinating the health response and convening regular meetings with CNDRC. The health cluster is meeting regularly under the auspices of the MOHA. Medical teams from Bangladesh, China, India, Israel, Japan, Pakistan, Qatar, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States of America have offered to deploy medical teams and surge capacity to assist with the response. Twelve foreign medical teams are already in the country. The MoHP has asked that additional medical teams remain on standby until it has assessed needs.
