The United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) today completed the process of providing Maoist army personnel information to the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, in accordance with a request of the Special Committee for the Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist army personnel.
“UNMIN released the data following the necessary agreement of the parties. I view that agreement as another positive step in the peace process,” said Representative of the Secretary-General Karin Landgren.
UNMIN had collected the data as part of its activities related to the monitoring of the management of arms and armies. The Mission remains committed to handling this personnel data with appropriate confidentiality, under the terms of the Arms Monitoring Agreement.
