A designated Nepalese government official at Tribhuvan/ Kathmandu International Airport is responsible for processing customs clearance documents. Humanitarian organisations are required to nominate one focal point who will interact with government authorities, in order to ensure that all necessary documents needed for customs clearance are collected and duly completed. The focal point will liaise with the government agencies in charge of releasing incoming humanitarian and medical relief cargo. Organisations are required to inform the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal, in coordination with the Office of the UN Resident Representative in Kathmandu of offers of assistance before any humanitarian is relief cargo is sent.
