As you know, the United Nations has made a major effort with the Nepali peace process. We have been working with Nepal for many years on this. We have made a major investment in it. And, we will continue to work closely with Nepal as the process moves forward. UNMIN will be leaving Nepal on 15 January. This makes it particularly critical that a political agreement on integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist army is reached at the very soonest. We have a process now with six weeks to go and it is very important that things be in place when UNMIN leaves so that the process will move forward smoothly. It is essential that the details of any monitoring regime be worked out as a follow-on to UNMIN’s withdrawal from the cantonments.
