URL-http://apps.who.int/iris/ The Consultant visited Bangladesh, Thailand, Nepal and selected institutions of cardiology in India (see Annex 1). He discussed the problems of prevention, control and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases with special emphasis on cor pulmonale and paediatric cardiology. The opportunity to meet cardiologists, paediatricians, cardiac surgeons, pneumonologists and other specialists and framers of national health policy was used to discuss also other problems in cardiovascular diseases. Special attention was paid to their responsibility towards the people suffering from cardiovascular diseases in urban as well as in rural areas. The advantages of prevention over expensive therapy in majority of cardiovascular diseases were stressed.
