URL-http://apps.who.int/iris/ The leprosy control project ( originally WHO-assisted project Nepal 13) came into being as a result of a request by the Government of Nepal in 1962 for assistance in determining the extent of the leprosy problem in Kathmandu Valley. A WHO short term consultant (Dr R.V. Wardekar) conducted a preliminary survey in early 1963 in conjunction with the WHO Statistical Assistant from the Regional Office (Mr A.M. Subramanian).
