Awards ceremony is slated for World AIDS Day in December 1, 2012. The awards was established in 2010 with an initiative of Asia Pacific Leadership Forum on HIV and Development (APLF), Media Panel - Nepal (now HIV Media Champions) in collaboration with the Federation of Nepali Journalists(FNJ), Department of Information(DoI), National Center for AIDS and STD Control (NCASC) and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) is continuing its work as the central secretariat of awards and is responsible for disseminating information about awards across country, collecting the entries and then assisting in the formation of the Jury Panel in selecting the winners.
