Conflicts do not only vary in kind or form but also in stages.Conflicts, when not dealt with constructively or if not managed carefully, could escalate, sometimes violently. On the other hand, when an adequate measure to mitigate conflict applied, conflicts could ed-escalate,leading to cessation of hostilities and on a best case scenario to stable peace.Open conflict is characterized as when the parties have taken measures to deal with the conflict, even if militarized options are not adopted 9 An open conflict, while classified as the kind of conflict where violence is used to resolve differences-such as armed conflict or war could also be one where violence is not necessarily used; verbal confrontation could also be one manifestations. Violence is the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against a person,or against a group or community, which either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, developmental or deprivation 13 Note that the use of power and intention is highlighted as an important aspect of any given violent act.Violence could come from or generate a cycle of acts and consequences, destruction, displacement, frustration, abandonment, fear, apathy and in the worst case, death.
