The remaining contributions come from other partners including His Majesty’s Government of Nepal. The landscape level conservation is based on the premise that both the productive and protected parts of the landscape are given due attention to achieve the goal of biodiversity conservation.further means that both livelihood and conservation strategies will go hand-in-hand having a broader partnership among the local communities. The Programmer will provide incentives for the local communities to reduce pressure on natural forests and biodiversity resources by strengthening community participation in conservation activities in protected areas and its buffer zones including prevention of illegal activities i.e. poaching, timber felling and forest fires.Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation, executing agency for the Programmer said,“One of the important interventions of the project will be to integrate biodiversity conservation criteria with sustainable forest use and agricultural production, broaden the conservation strategies beyond the protected areas, moving towards managing large landscapes through participatory land use planning based upon ecological, social and economic needs.”
