The United Nations System in Nepal, in support with its 17 implementing partners, is all set to implement its GFATM-funded-projects (Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria) in six districts of Nepal. The UN System, with UNAIDS and UNDP in the forefront, will implement the GFATM-fundedprojects in six districts of Nepal namely Acham, Banke, Chitwan, Doti, Jhapa and Rupandehi. The projects will be implemented by 17 non-governmental organizations. In preparation for the activities, the implementing partners recently met to agree on harmonized ways of implementing the programme. Partnerships for better coordination at district level were built among the
NGOs. Moreover, linkages with the technical resources within the UN System were established to ensure that the technical support is readily available. The projects focus on bringing prevention and care for hundreds of young people and migrants through Advocacy for preventive services through IEC materials and District-level workshops; Life skills-based HIV education for in- and out-of-school youth; HIV awareness raising through mass media and traditional media; Youth friendly service center; Information and counseling services for migrants; STI and VCT centers and;
Psychosocial support plan for People Living with HIV/AIDS.
