Stop and Eliminate Sexual and Gender Based Violence against All Women and Girls in Nepal
PDF File Size: 152 KB | Download
November 25th marks the sixth International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and the beginning of the United Nations Sixteen Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence nationwide campaign. The United Nations believes that: Gender-based violence is a violation of the rights to life, equality, and freedom from all forms of discrimination, torture and inhuman treatment;
Gender-based violence in public and private spheres concerns all sectors and all walks of life; Gender-based violence as it affects women’s health and well-being should be given national priority; Throughout their programme activities in Nepal, all UN Agencies are committed to fighting all forms of violence against all women and girls as well as sexual minorities. The UN’s concerns extend to women of all ethnic, caste and religious groups, especially combating sexual and domestic violence and social practices that undermine women’s dignity. Addressing the protection concerns of refugees and displaced women and above all violence against women in the context of the ongoing armed conflict is a priority commitment.
