The un in kathmandu confirmed today that the letter from government of nepal requesting their support to the peace process has been sent to its headquarters in new york to the attention of mr. kofi annan, the UN secretary general.the letter, which was signed by the prime minister, mr. G.P. koirala was given to the UN acting resident Coordinator ms. junko Sazaki by Dr. Suresh C. Chalise,international affairs adviser to the prime minister during a meeting held at the office of the Council of ministers in Singha durbar on monday 3 july. receiving the letter, ms. Sazaki, welcomed it and informed dr. chalise that she would forward it to the UN secretary general immediately, who has been following developments in nepal very closely. since the 1950s the UN has been working for peace and development in nepal, we look forward to extending our support in response emerging needs throughout the country,said ms. Sazaki.
