PDF File Size: 88 KB | Download
This booklet aims to raise awareness amongst visitors to Lo Manthang about the unique Tibetan culture found in Upper Mustang through a holistic description of the Tiji Festival, a 3 day masked dance celebration towards the end of May. The festival initially began as a religious ceremony, to ward off obstacles and suffering that might befall the land, but it has also come to symbolize the future hopes and aspirations of the people. Tiji Festival – Lo Manthang presents a concise overview of the land and people of Lo, the history of Tiji and its significance, as well as the main events of the festival and the role of the community in it.
