OHCHR- Nepal Representative Richard Bennett on Thursday handed over 58,000
copies of a pocketbook on human rights to Nepal Police SSP Binod Singh. The Human Rights Standing Order for Nepal Police (Nepal Prahari Manab Adhikar
Sthai Adesh) consists of international human rights standards for law enforcement officials on issues including: policing in a democracy, conducting investigations in accordance with human rights, crowd control, use of force and firearms, combating discrimination, community relations, the rights of refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) and others. OHCHR-Nepal provided technical assistance in developing and producing the pocketbook following a request from the Nepal Police. The first version of the Standing Order was published in 1996 in collaboration with OHCHR-Geneva.
