PDF File Size: 86 KB | Download
Speaking at a press briefing in the Eastern region capital of Biratnagar today, UNMIN Spokeperson said in response to a question about the reported reestablishment by the CPN(Moaist) of their People's Councils: "Ian Martin has expressed his concern over reports about the CPN (Maoist) re-establishing its people's councils. He is seeking clarification from the Maoist leadership. The CPA and the Agreement on the Monitoring of the Management of Arms and Armies, which was witnessed by Ian Martin and which UNMIN monitors, set out the commitments of the parties not to operate parallel or other forms of mechanism in any areas of the state or state machinery. We are seeking direct clarification about the reports."
