The 2011 Nepal Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) is designed to provide data for monitoring the population and health situation in Nepal. The 2011 NDHS is the fourth Demographic and Health Survey conducted in Nepal. The objective of the survey was to provide up-to-date information on fertility, maternal and child health, nutrition, infant and child mortality, family planning behavior, women’s status, domestic
violence, and knowledge and behavior regarding HIV/AIDS. This report summarizes the fidings of the 2011 Nepal Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) implemented by New ERA under the aegis of the Ministry of Health and Population. ICF International provided technical assistance for the survey through the USAID-funded MEASURE DHS program, which is designed to assist developing countries to collect data on fertility, family planning, and maternal and child health. Funding for the NDHS was received from USAID/Nepal.
