Universal Access For Children Affected By AIDS In Nepal
|
Universal Access for Children Affected by Aids in Nepal (UCAAN) today organized a ceremony to welcome on board various business houses in Nepal to their national open partnership. In an effort to expand its partnership to various sectors, UCAAN has been advocating with various business houses and sensitizing them regarding the issue of children affected by AIDS; and the need for private sector engagement in the partnership. The first Public-Private Partnership workshop was concluded on January 25,2009. The Business houses thereafter have showed their commitment to the issue of children affected by AIDS and also expressed their keenness to contribute to the recently set up UCAAN fund. Today’s 'Fund Handover’ program was organized to enhance transparency around the partnership, and
also to highlight the private sector commitment and involvement. Representatives from Praxis Trade, HC Dugar, Sarda Group, ANS Creations, Gayatra Store Enterprises, Varun Beverages, Lomus Pharmaceuticals and Himalayan Distillery were present at the event to express their support to UCAAN. The fund has been set up as a charity to ensure high level advocacy for children affected AIDS. It will seek to leverage comparative advantage of partners towards ensuring that all children affected by AIDS are identified and provided access to basic social services. Funds raised through the partnership will support Children Affected by AIDS and is managed by the UCAAN core committee with regular reports sent to all partners regarding its expenditure.
