INSARAG Asia-Pacific earthquake response simulation exercise Kathmandu, 21 April 2009 STATEMENT released by HUMANITARIAN and RESIDENT COORDINATOR, ROBERT PIPER.The ‘cause’ is of course, disaster preparedness – in the case of INSARAG, preparedness for an effective response which will minimize the number of victims of a future disaster thanks to a massive surge in international support to national actors. Support not only in the form of search and rescue teams and equipment but also in the form of vital coordination and operational assets that will help the Government assess, plan, coordinate and deploy international resources of all kinds.
