Celebrating World Day for Audiovisual Heritage on 27 October by organizing a roundtable discussion on the safeguarding of Nepal’s audiovisual memory, followed by a concert of traditional Nepali music.film, video, radio and recorded sound material is being lost every day due to neglect, natural decay and technological obsolescence. In order to prevent their loss, urgent preservation measures must be taken, including for example digitization of photographs and films. The aim of the day is to raise public awareness of these documents as integral components of national identity and to spearhead efforts for their protection. The international theme of this year’s celebration is "Save and Savoir your AV Heritage Now!The world’s audiovisual heritage is endangered. Too much of it has already been lost through neglect of its value, chemical decay or technological obsolescence. disappearance would represent an irremediable impoverishment of the memory of the world says UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova in her message on the occasion of the day.
