UNESCO Kathmandu organized a 2 day Consultation Meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal on November 19-20 to discuss the feasibility, necessity and usefulness of Building Bridges, a project activity which aims at creating communication (information sharing) and expertise networks among district- based CLC/CMCs of Rupandehi, Palpa, Newalaparasi and Kapilvastu. The purpose of the consultation meeting is therefore to develop concrete proposals for CLCs and CMCs to work together and link through information and educational networks and ensure that strategies are transformed into sustainable actions at community level. It has been clearly
demonstrated that using ICT tools such as Community Radio, Community Television and Community telecentres is an effective way of disseminating information, delivering educational programmes and empowering marginalized people. Now that also some CLCs in Nepal have begun to use ICT tools, it has become clear that capitalizing on the relative strengths of CLCs and CMCs through inter-organizational collaboration will enable both CLCs and CMCs to reach more
people, with a greater variety of high quality information and educational programmes.
