On 30 April, the International Jazz Day,the world comes together, in peace and harmony, to share a passion for music and to join forces for freedom and
creativity and to raise awareness of the virtues of jazz. Jazz is an educational tool. It is a force for peace, unity, and dialogue among people. Jazz draws roots from a great mix of people and cultures-from Africa, Europe and the Caribbean. Nurtured in the United States, it is now woven into the fabric of every society, played across the world, enjoyed everywhere. It marks the most of the world’s diversity, effortlessly crossing borders and bringing people together. In November 2011, during the UNESCO General Conference, the international community proclaimed 30 April as "International Jazz Day". The Day was celebrated for the first time in 2012. The day is an opportunity for governments, civil society organizations, educational institutions, and individuals to engage in the promotion of jazz music and to foster appreciation not only for the music but also for the contribution it can make to building more inclusive societies.
