UN-HABITAT Water for Asian Cities WAC Programmer a collaborative initiative between the UN-HABITAT,the Asian Development Bank ADB and Governments of Asia,was officially launched at the Third World Water Forum on 18 March 2003.The first Asian Ministerial Forum held in Osaka,The WAC Programmer Nepal initiated with small interventions in 2005 in Kathmandu Valley,urban and Peri-urban communities to demonstrate innovative water and sanitation activities.These activities have proved as stepping Ministerial Declaration on WAC The programmer is supporting in the implementation of water and sanitation related MDGs and targets in Asian cities specifically promoting pro-poor governance water demand management increased attention to environmental sanitation and income generation for the poor linked to water supply and sanitation.The programmer seeks to achieve this by Mobilizing political will Raising awareness through advocacy information and education Training and capacity building Promoting new investments in the urban The WAC Nepal works closely with UN agencies like UNDP,UNICEF,WHO and PPPUE/UNDP.It also works in close coordination with supported projects to incorporate supplementary activities Twinkle Mahrajan, of grade seven studying in Model Academy Lubhoo was very interested to have toilet in her house.According to Twinkle,all my friends in my school have their own toilet in their house so I also want to have our own.So She compelled her family to build the toilet.Later with the assistance of the project implemented by UN-HABITAT, CIUD and Lubhoo Environment Improvement Committee the family succeeded to construct.Twinkle,is now happy to use ROSANNE toilet.Twinkle mother shared her earlier difficulties.She said,Before we were force to open defecate,as there was no other alternative and it is very difficult at day time as we have to hold the nature call and have to wait until dark to get rid of it.Nowadays we are very happy to use this type of toilet which is a minute from our house and great to know that our waste will be the good compost to use in the field to these projects while developing its project.
