The Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Nepal, Jamie McGoldrick reiterated the UN’s sadness at the demise of Nanda Prasad Adhikari,which was also expressed in the statement by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Transitional Justice mechanisms should have been in place and implemented a long time ago as was stipulated in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement said Jamie McGoldrick. The UN in Nepal urges the Government to honor its commitment to give justice to the victims in line with the Interim Constitution, existing laws,international commitments, accepted principles of justice, the verdict of the Supreme Court and the recommendations of the National Human Rights Commission”Jamie McGoldrick further added,“The UN did its utmost to support human rights organizations and other stakeholders in their efforts to prevent the death of Nanda Prasad Adhikari and now calls on them to come together to save the life of Ganga Maya, Adhikari wife.
