"I am pleased, and I know the Security Council will be pleased, that I will be briefing them in the knowledge that a date has been set for the Constituent Assembly election. A credible CA election is a key step in the peace process and a means to consolidating democracy, stability and development in Nepal. The Council will no doubt want to know what progress is being made in the implementation of the 23-point agreement, as the political basis for sustaining the peace process and for continuing unity among the Seven-Party Alliance. The Council will also want to know the prospect of the election taking place as planned on 10 April in an inclusive manner that contributes to long-term peace..."
