the opening remarks and the inaugural presentations by Response Beyond Borders, UNODC and UNAIDS is evident that the current investments in resources, capacities and programmatic responses to HIV among people who inject drugs are insufficient to impact on HIV prevention and other health related issues among people who inject drugs. HIV knows no borders throughout the sub-region account for similar context in HIV-related. Prioritizing actions that produce the best results for those who are the most affected is essential. Difficult decisions about prioritization were made that have resulted in the Nepal HIV Investment Plan NHIP, a few months ago. In this NHIP, people who inject drugs are the number one priority for investment said the UNAIDS Director for Nepal and Bhutan, Dr Del Prado. Participants will draw on the collective strengths of countries in strategic advocacy, programmatic experiences, information sharing, and capacity building in a pooled effort as part of a Response Beyond Borders “While good progress has been made in Asia, rapid expansion of needle and syringe programmed, opioid substitution therapy, HIV counseling and testing, and early HIV treatment for those who test positive, as recommended by WHO, UNODC and UNAIDS, are essential if Member States are to achieve target of the Political Declaration on HIV, which was adopted by Heads of State in New York in June 2011: A 50% reduction in new HIV infections among people who inject drugs, by 2015”said Anne Spitsbergen, Regional HIV Adviser of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, UNODC.
