The UNAIDS Representative to Nepal and Bhutan had the pleasure today,Wednesday 12 March 2014,of welcoming Carolyn Miles, President and Executive Director of Save the Children to the UNAIDS Country Office in Kathmandu.She was accompanied by Tara Chet try, Chief of Party, responsible for HIV. The courtesy visit was an opportunity for Save the Children and UNAIDS to discuss a wide range of areas such as the new funding model of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and malaria; the possible creation of a virtual field support team in-country, to take up some of the reporting and administrative functions smaller local implementers.In addition, the innovative Community Test and Treat Competence programmer that is currently under development In Nepal, as mandated by the Nepal HIV Investment Plan, was presented to the guests from Save the Children. Organizations reaffirmed their continued sharing, learning and collaboration to the health, wellness and well being of the people of Nepal.Moved by the dramatic juxtaposition of the endemic deprivation faced by millions of children the opportunities available to her own children, Carolyn Miles decided to dedicate herself to providing the world’s children with better opportunities in life.
